Materials Lattice

The Royal Academy of Language, defines the lattice as a "board or panel of wood or iron placed in windows of buildings or other similar gaps so that people
who are inside can see without being seen" . The word lattice is rooted in the word Zelo from ancient Latin language meaning "zeal" and this derives from the Greek word meaning ζῆλος "boil".

A latticework is a decorative architectural element consisting of a draft board for closing openings such as windows and balconies, which prevents anyone from being seen but lets watching and lets light and air in. It is usually made of wood, but may be other synthetic materials (such as plastic), metal or stone.

The lattice is frequent in gardens as a support for climbing plants and can be found on walls, fences, arches, in the corners or sides of gazebos etc.
The lattice was used extensively in the Hispanic-Muslim art and arabic decoration.
